Philippine Massage & Spa – The Gift of Giving
I just woke up from a deep night’s sleep. It was a peaceful, restful slumber – such a rare experience these days. And I think I know how it came about.
It’s almost end of the year. I still have 4 days of unused vacation leave which I will forfeit lest I use them before New Year. I decided to make good use of them. Two weeks ago, I have filed for vacation leave on each Tuesday thereafter.
I went on to enroll for therapeutic massage scheduled Tuesdays and Saturdays until before Christmas. It’s the type of massage that I’ve been receiving from JCV for 7 years now. I intend to learn it to be able to share it to and with my wife.
As I have previously related, JCV is more a clinic than a spa type of place. However, what it lacks in ambiance, it makes up in the massage treatment. It’s not the mall-type massage that is usually more of ambiance than the massage. Unfortunately, my wife goes for the ambiance as well. Her visit with me to JCV can be counted with my ten fingers. I’d really like her to be receiving therapeutic massage more than the commercialized massages.
I’m now more than half way through the lesson. But at this point, I am ready and capable of providing a full-body therapeutic massage.
Yesterday, we spent the whole day at home. We watched 2 movies on our Bravia flat screen with the kids and ended up at the end of the day feeling like potatoes sluggishly growing on the couch. Not really a nice feeling and mood to be in. I decided that it’s time. My wife graciously accepted my offer to give her a full-body massage.
We had some acoustic music playing at that time. I lowered the volume and dimmed the light. I laid a beach towel on the bedside. As my wife lay unclothed, I draped her with an old flannel cloth baby blanket. With a palm laid on her back, I connected with her and our journey started. The aromatic scent of the oil slowly filled the room as long strokes glide, palms press, and fingers knead. My hands lovingly followed her body’s contours and gently pushed and rolled out unwanted knots and tightness. Time receded away from consciousness. The giver and the receiver were in a dance all their own, fusing into one.
As I finish the massage, I was not surprised that I did not feel spent. I felt content and fulfilled. We retired under the covers and sunk into deep sleep. The giver gave, the receiver received, and the giver received.
Stumble it!
